JEWAR / GREATER NOIDA — The skyline of southwestern Uttar Pradesh has been transformed with Noida International Airport (DXN) at Jewar entering the final qualification phase for scheduled commercial airline operations. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) have deployed instrument landing calibration aircraft to validate the airport’s 3,900-meter Category-I and Category-III instrument approach runways.
Conceived to decongest Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport and serve the expanding commercial and industrial hinterland of western Uttar Pradesh, Jewar represents one of the largest greenfield aviation hubs in Asia.
Terminal 1: Architectural Ergonomics and Digital Passenger Processing
Developed and operated by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL)—a subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG—Phase-1 of the airport is engineered to accommodate 12 million passengers annually. The architectural masterplan incorporates sustainable Scandinavian and Swiss design concepts fused with traditional Indian courtyard heritage:
- 100% DigiYatra Biometric Gate Entry: Contactless, facial-recognition passenger boarding from curb-to-gate, reducing security transit wait times below 10 minutes.
- Net-Zero Carbon Operations: Powered entirely by on-site solar farms and green power wheeling agreements, earning LEED Platinum and IGBC Platinum sustainability ratings.
- Integrated Multi-Modal Cargo Hub: A 80-acre logistics facility equipped with specialized cold-chain pharmaceutical bays and automated high-bay storage to support exports from UP’s manufacturing belts.

Transit Arteries: Expressways, Metro, and RRTS Integration
A premier global airport requires rapid ground transit. The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has finalized civil execution for an integrated transport hub right beneath the terminal forecourt. Ground transport links include direct access ramps connecting the Yamuna Expressway and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, alongside a dedicated high-speed RRTS rail corridor linking Jewar to Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan transit hub in under 50 minutes.
